Quite simply the greatest post apocalyptic RPG game in the world... Ever!

nontact: (Sep 10, 2005 - 1:18 PM CDT)
Probably the best rules set I have ever used. Well designed and well planed. I miss the days of Aftermath more than anyother game I have played.

waldo: (Oct 29, 2005 - 8:31 PM CDT)
still got it... :)

Lorgryt: (Apr 25, 2006 - 6:35 AM CDT)
I still play it! I have had it since it was first published.

The Raptor: (Jun 6, 2006 - 11:50 PM CDT)
I'm actually on my third copy, and I still haven't learned all the rules. But that has never kept me from playing a game before.

I don't play aftermath any longer but i do still have the rules and am willing to chat with others about this great game. I'm also on the look out for a copy of Aftermath Technology published around 1992.

I still play Aftermath my self in fact I have just started a new campain with some games that have never heard of it. I am looking for the books Operation Morphus and Aftermath Technologys any help would be great. Im in houstonTexas

Though a "rule heavy" game; in my 20+ years of pen and paper, I still consider it one of the top RPGs I have ever played. No "end of the world" RPG has ever been it's equal to date. Pity it rots away in the FGU basement. Some mechanics tweaks and a new publishing would bring this gem to a new generation of RPG players. It deserves a place with D&D, Traveller, and Champions as an all time RPG classic.

Fly: (Feb 15, 2007 - 6:00 PM CST)
I still love this game. One of the greats. A simple change to melee weapon damage calculation and/or ignoring speical cases removes all the "legendary" complexity in the rules.

komy (Mar 15, 2007 - 8:12 PM CST):
I still have the rule book and a few other books in the closet . I agree I really enjoyed this game for many years. Feel free to email or something we can discuss the game or what have you.

Dave: (Oct 11, 2007 - 3:59 AM CDT)
I've owned this game for about 20 years. A frined had it and we played the Operation Morpheus scenario, was hooked. I've collected all the extra books except the equipment expansion set, which I've tried to track down for years. Although sometimes cumbersome, the level of detail in the rules is incredible. Although I haven't played it for years, I still add stuff to the scenarios - with the help of the internet, up to date details on Cairo Illinois and Littleton etc are easily available. Think I'll dust it off and try to get some mates interested in it again. time for another round.

Ayradon (Jan 7, 2008 - 9:00 PM CST):
I too love this game. I'm in the process of combining the Morrow Project combat system with Aftermath for inproved game play

Velgor (Jan 23, 2008 - 6:55 PM CST):
FGU's website is www.fantasygamesunlimeted.net and they are alive and well. You can get ALL Aftermath materials from them in hard copy format. Operation Morpheus and Empire of Karo are just newly released as PDF only files exclusively on FGU's website. You can get PDFs of the Core Rules and the adventure packs (excepting Morpheus and Karo) at places like DriveThruRPG.com

Even better, FGU is planning to release several new products in the Aftermath line-up! There's a new Equipment book, a Survival Guide to the Post Apocalypse that has info on running campaigns in various types of settings (nuclear holocaust, zombie, plague, aliens, etc.) and there's even a new gaming system to convert Aftermath into a fantasy setting. Check out www.fantasygamesunlimited.net for info. I tell ya, I'm really excited to see all this and am looking forward to getting my grubby hands on this new stuff, now that my set is complete!

BENNY-j: (Feb 19, 2008 - 10:13 AM CST)
just bought a 'collected' softback edition and am looking forward to starting a campaign.
have heard the 'legends of aftermath' from my older brother who had the boxed set but sold it on after a decade.

Jay (May 6, 2008 - 8:49 PM CDT):
Out of curiosity, has anyone thought of running a campaign online with netmeeting or a smilar product? I would gladly either play in or run a campaign late in the evening a day or two each week if the sessions were net based.

A commone platform like VASL can provide an interactive hex based gametable and dice generator for tactical interaction and netmeeting or gamespeak or a similar platform can provide live vox.

If anyone is interested, chime in and we could begin a conversation.

On a wild fantasy level, IMO this game would so outrank existing fantasy MPRPG games if a quality environment could be created. I think the fascination with Resident Evil, I am Legened type themes these days lend to the notion this game could easily carry such a system even with serious subscription costs.

Man, it's great to hear FGU has been resurrected. I wasted hours and hours and hours running Aftermath! campaigns in high school. The best by far was the campaign that encompassed the county we lived in. Nothing beats exploring the highways and byways of your area, all the while taking notes on how it would be altered by the cataclysmic events of the Aftermath!

Overly complex rules, but Aftermath! was so far ahead of its time when released that it definitely deserves a spot at the top along with AD&D 2nd ed., RuneQuest 2nd ed., and Traveller 2nd ed.

RobW: (Jul 4, 2008 - 8:44 PM CDT)
I tried to get a game going on OpenRPG, but it fizzled at the start. I'm on the road a lot, and would love to try an on-line PNP game in the evening when I am travelling (which is basically always). Aftermath is my all time favorite.

Ayradon (Jul 16, 2008 - 2:11 PM CDT):
I've nearly completed my rule changes for combat. I'm glad to see people are still interested in playing this game. If anyone is interested in the changes I've made feel free to e-mail me and I can send them to you.

tattoo4u69 (Sep 20, 2008 - 5:21 AM CDT):
nice too see that a lot of people still play i just got a copy of Aftermath technology and im changing it into a pdf so i have it on my comp with all the other books also

Royal (Oct 6, 2008 - 3:36 PM CDT):
One of the best RPGs ever made...I lost my books years ago..wish I could afford new ones

la-di-da: (Nov 17, 2008 - 2:04 AM CST)
can you smoke weed?

BENNY-j: (Dec 3, 2008 - 11:20 AM CST)
just ordered the new(ish) 'survival manual'

Dave: (Feb 9, 2009 - 7:32 AM CST)
Bought the new equipment guide and survival guide. the level of detail is as thorough as ever - particualrly the survival guide, simply incredible. There's a new magic rulebook on the way and hopefully maybe more secenarios.
If you are planning on running check out information on Cairo and Littleton. As I've said above, the availability of maps, census, pictures etc, make fleshing out the adventures much easier.

Trey: (Jun 5, 2009 - 12:43 PM CDT)
Aftermath was the best RPG I have ever played. Would play for days without sleep. Probably the definition of an addict but it was fun so what can I say. The skill sets and the damage modifiers the whole game was cool as hell. I still have my original set from the 80's

St Germain (Jun 7, 2009 - 8:25 PM CDT):
Too bad Scotty's store, Waterloo in Gilbert, AZ went out of business... They put out some interesting games.

DifferentlyAlive (Oct 13, 2009 - 10:52 PM CDT):
Old timer here, Aftermath was the best. Just flipped through Pathfinder and it is 'almost' identical to Aftermath! Character sheet gave it away. If it is the same folks that did the original, ignore. If not.....

JUryman: (Dec 21, 2009 - 9:29 PM CST)
I've been running a campaign for over a year now -- it's as complex as I remember it in the 1980's, but still fun....
