This is an excellent comic-book superhero RPG but is no longer published. It was written by English authors for Games Workshop in 1984, but when GW picked up the license for DC Heroes, they dropped GH. Amazingly, for a game nearly 20 years old and out of print for most of that, GH still has a fan following on the 'net, with PBeMs etc.

It has a somewhat British comic-book look and feel to it - the covers were designed like a comic, and the names of the Interior Artists reads like a roll call of great British comic-book artists.

There were two modules as well and a GM screen. Some articles were printed in White Dwarf magazine at the time including scenarios and rules updates.

Golden Heroes allows you to build PCs very quickly without trapping you into mimicking comix characters you know already.

There is also an original Campaign Ratings system, which rates PCs at the end of each game, on Public Status, Detective Points and Personal Status.

A very good and easy system to play and GM. It's just a pity that no-one's updated it lately as I've found the other Sper RPGs a bit cumbersome and unweildy for character gen.

But still valid in this day and age but always enjoyable. Just wish I could get a hold of the extras that were apparently in WD back in the old days.

I still have an original copy of this and the 2 scenario books that came out for it. It's a nice simplistic RPG, except for the experience system - which fits logically into comic style campaigns for a detail, if somewhat slow, character development. I'm using it for my next major RPG campaign and blending it with the Starcraft backdrop - my players often expect wild things from me.
